Senior Communications Manager / Mexico
Raiza Pilatowsky Gruner is HOT's Senior Communications Manager. Originally from Mexico City, she started at HOT as a Digital Communications Stretegist before stepping up to the role of Senior Manager. She is the former director of Planeteando, a platform of environmental communication for Spanish-speaking audiences, which she co-founded. She has experience producing podcasts, video essays, blogs, newsletters, performances, and environmental festivals in collaboration with various organizations like the National Geographic Society, the American Geophysical Union, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), as well as environmental activists and land defenders from Mexico.
She holds a Bachelor's degree in Earth Science from UNAM and an MSc in Environment and Sustainable Development from University College London. She has a graduate certification studies in Science Communication and Disasters and Climate Change.

OpenStreetMap Contributors Needed to Map Khartoum Ahead of New Radar Satellite Imagery
Over the past two years, conflict in Sudan has driven the country into one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises. Satellite radar coverage gaps have hindered efforts to assess damage to urban areas. With the launch of the Sentinel-1C radar satellite by the European Space Agency, that gap is beginning to close — but a comprehensive dataset of building footprints from OpenStreetMap (OSM) is essential to make this satellite data actionable.
